THE HAWKE'S BAY REMITS. (By Telccraph—Press Association.) i Hastings, Juno G. The annual conference of the Hawlce's Bay l'rovinciul District of New Zealand Farmers' Union was held yesterday, when it was decided to submit tile following remits to the Dominion conference:— (1) That this conference recognises tho necessity of compulsory military training, as provided in the Defence Act, but considers that tho training of young-men employed in agricultural, pastoral, and daiiviug pursuits should bo arranged so as to reduce'the serious inconvenience and expense to employers and employees by tho frequent attendance required at parades, and suggests that the annual period of continuous training in camp during the slack season be increased, whilst parades required during the remainder of the year bo reduced correspondingly. . , , (2) That tho Dominion conference he asked to draw the attention of tho Minister for Lands to the necessity for giviug the best facilities for acquiring farms in small ureas, and that owners of large estates bo encouraged to cut up their land into suitable areas for small tanning. • CI) That'this conference-urges on sheepfarmers the necessity of .seeing that sheep are properly dagged before sending them to the freezing works. U) That local bodies bo asked to nolo their' dog tax collectors responsible lor destruction of all dogs which they arc unable to register. ■ i .
