Indications that money was' becoming dearer have been many, and people, have been warned to expect a measure of stringency. There is now no doubt about the position, for the banks- have raised their deposit rates by h per cent., which bungs the New Zealand rates up to the '=vel cf those ruling in Australia, and they arc now as under:—

Sis months 2 percent. Twelve months 3i per cent. Two years .„ 4 per cent. FROZEN MEAT. Writing under date London, April 26, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co. state with respect to frozen meat that there is still an exceptionally good demand for lambs, both in London and the various provincial centres, and supplies are going out almost as rapidly a.; they are discharged from the ships.
