LEGALISED GAMBLING.
CASINOS FOR PORTUGAL. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyrlghi (Eec. June 2, 5.5 p.m.) ! Lisbon, Juno 1. The Senate has passed the Bill legalising gambling, which was introduced in January. The measure will now go to the Chamber. The Bill provides tfhe establishment ot luxurious casinos and saloons in the chief towns of Portugal and Madeira. The municipalities of tho respective towns will open tenders granting a gambling license to the highest bidder. Part of the profits is to rovert to the municipality, which will devote the money to charity. It has been stated that a British syndicate, with a capital of .61,000.000, has offered to build casinos at Lisbon and Cintra similar to that at Monte Carlo.
