MOTORISTS IN COUNCIL.
*— RULES OP THE ROAD. Delegates of flie various Automobile Associations in New Zealand met at the Masonic Hail, "Wellington, yesterday morning, when it was decided that it was desirable to form a union of all the Avtomobile Associations in the Dominion, with a view of securing legislation providing, amongst other things, for the enforcement of careful and considerate driving on the part of motorists, and for tho duo ftbservanco of tho rule- of tha road by everybody; that no person be allowed to drive without a lieunso; and that steps 1)0 taken to make it compulsory for all drivers of vehicles to light up'at dark. Tho delegates were:—Messrs. P. S. M ! l<eau and .T. S. Ilandyside, Hawke's Bay; T(. S. Abraham and A. J. Toxward, Manawntu; L. Aoton Adams, Otago; \V. K. Mills and Broadway, Canterbury; C. Elgar, M'airarapa; P. H. Lethbridgo and M. A. Jenny, Wangainii; Orboll, South Canterbury; A. E. U'hyle, A. de B. Brandon, J. Owen, T. Tnglis, Beauchamp-Platts, and Dr. Knight. Mr. Thoreau, secretary of the South Cnnterljuiy Association, was also present. The Auckland delegates were linablo to attend. Mr. P. >S. M'Leaji presided. A committee, consisting of the chairman, and Messrs. TClgar, Mills, Ilandy.side, Abraham, and Thoreau, was appointed to draft rules for submission to the various associations.
