RUGBY J-OOTBALL WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION, MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee, of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night. There, were present.-. Mcsrs. K. U Hales (chairman), W. Hardlmni, D. Weir, W. F. liornig, A. E. Wilson, E. A. Dawson, E. Little, F. C. Atkinson, W. l.'errv (treasurer), and W. G. Talbot (secretary). The secretary of the Marist Bros.' Foolball Club wrote, stating that whilo the club's team was playing at Upper ilult last Saturday one of the members had Jiis pockets rilled. Ho suggested that the dressing-shed on the ground should be locked.—-It was decided to leave the matter in the bands of Mr. Dawson for attention. It was decided that the mid-winter meeting of delegates be held on Friday, .Tuns 11, at 7.30 p.m. Tho Tramway Club forwarded an apology for the action of the Wednesday fa-am in leaving tho ground during tho progress of the match against Oriental, at Athletic Park on May 8.-lt was decided to accept the apology. Permission was granted to the Petone Football Club to send a team to Palmerston North to play in the seven-a-sido tournament on Monday next. "Permission wasalso granted to the Athletic Club and aUo to tho St. James Club to send teams. It was reported that the Porirua Club declined to play against Athletic juniors at I'orirtia on Saturday last owing to the illness of the wife of ono of the members of the club.—As Porirua bad not previously given notice of their intention, and as tho Athletic players wero put lo the expense of going to Pcrirnn, it was decided to award the match to tho Athletic team, Mr. AV. Pa rata advised that the Role-run representatives to play at Wellington on Monday next will reach hero on Friday next. The Old Boys' Club was granted permission to send n team toChristohurch at tho end of this month, to defend tho Dovenish Shield. Mr. A. E. Wilson will act as manager. It was decided to include Hawke's Bay in the northern tour in August next. The question of n, match with Wanganui was held over pending the result of the cup championship, the final of which may require to bo played on Saturday, August 31. . " Mr. If. E, Card, referee in the MelroscSt. James match, reported that a, St. James player had after the match accused him of showing bins, and another had used an uncomplimentary expression. It was decided to call on the players to appear before the union on Wednesday next. The report of the sub-committee set up to deal with the question of representative games for lower grades was adopted. The report included the following recommendations :— Fifth Cla's—A game with Wanganui Fourth Class at Wanganui as a curtainraiser to the Wangaiuii-Wellington match (if a Wellington team goes there}, tho WaHRijniii Union bo asked to return the visit. Selection to be, by recommendation of Fifth Class coaches. To. be compulsory that at least one boy from each Fifth Class team to be selected. Trip to bo made by direct boat. Fourth Class—To plav Palmerston Third Class at Palmerston North.. Leave by train on Friday afternoon. Selection to be on lines of Fifth Glass selection. Third Class.—A match against Marlborough Juniors as a curtain-raiser to the Wellington fixture. Team to leave by direct boat on Friday evening and return on Sunday. Selection to be' as in other grades. The sub-committee desire to emphasise that if any such scheme is adopted only' boys of known good character and behaviour must bo selected. In tho Third and Fourth grades it is suggested that only young players be'.sent,, i.e., the'trip should not bo given to'stmicr or old players, who have dropped back to lower grades. Tho unions visited should be asked to return tho visits this season if possible, so that two matches will be played for each grade, and provide good cur-tain-raisers for representative matches and also encourage tho boys by allowing of their appearance in public.
ASSOCIATION.
THE W.F.A. COMMITTEE. Mr. B. L. Salmon presided over tho weekly meeting of tho Management Committee of tho Wellington Football Association last 'evening. Through Mr. 13. L. Salmon, Mr. C. P. Skerrett intimated that he would give a donation of «ElO 10s. towards tho association's funds. Tho Wellington Northern League wrote asking for permission to use Anderson Park on Saturday, June 1, and 'Monday, Juno 3. It was agreed to grant tho request subject to the League approaching the City Council in regard to tho uso of Anderson Park on Juno 3. A communication was received from the secretary of tho Manawatu Association, asking for a first-division team to visit Palmorston on show., day, June 28.—Decided to leave the matter in the hands of the senior selection committee, with power to act. The Auckland Football Association wrote stating that they were unable to send a fifth-division team to Wellington this seaEon. Regarding dressing accommodation for players at Miramar, H was decided that a. sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Lewis, Pcynolcls, and Dick he set up to inquire into conditions, etc., and to report to the next meeting of the Management Coramittee. St David's Club was granted permission to play a match with St. Andrews, Paimcrston, on Monday, Juno 3. The secretary was instructed to write the Miramar Borough Council drawing attention to the fact that there were practically no cars at Miramar when matches censed on Saturday last. It was also decided to ask that more ears he put on the Miramar line to suit the-convenience of Association players. The secretary reported that arrangements v:cre well in hand for the Association football benefit performance, to he held at the King's Theatre on June 6. BOYS' TEAM. The following fourth division players, belonging to the Swifts Club, have been selected to journey to Paimcrston on June 3 to play tho hoys' representatives there:—Oakley', Boss, Bowntrec, Brown, Flaws, White, Bichnrris. Humphries, Macintyre, Botherham, M'Phail. GKOUNDS COMPANY, LTD. A meeting of the directors of the .Association Foothall Grounds Company, Ltd., was held Inst evening, Mr. F. J. Courtonay presiding. The seal of tho company was fixed to the agreement with Messrs. Tonka and Andrews for levelling tho new ground at South Kilbirnie. The ones!ion of fencing (he ground was discussed, find final arrangements were left in the hands of Mr. Courtenay to deal with. Another batch of 325 shares were allotted at the meeting. It was announced that tho first statittorv meeting of shareholders would be held at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Juno i. TRIAL MATCH. The representative hockey match between Wellington and Itawke's Bay, played here to-day, was won by Hawke's Bay by three, goals to one. In the first half Wellington held their own, and, at halftime, wore leading by mie goal to nil. This goal was scored by Dnvies. Tho home team had easily the best of the second half. They excelled tho visitors in both forward and back sections. Anderson scored twico in quick succession, and Bli.ndell also found the net. During tho first half, C. Davies was injured, and had to leave, the field foT a, time, coming on again shortly after halflimo.
