Tho chairman of the Royal Commission on Education, Mr. Mark Cohen, of Dunedin, is duo to arrive here on Fridav, and the commission is expected to hold "a preliminary sitting in Wellington on tho same day. Both the personnel of tho commission and the scope of the inquiry, Mr. Hanan stated, seemed to command wide approval. There were few tilings in respect of tho administration of the branches of education covered in the order of reference which the members of tho commission collectively were not intimately acquainted with. Replying to a suggestion that the time allotted to tho commission in which to carry out its duties was somewhat short, Mr. Hnnan stated that when Mr. Cohen (chairman) arrived on Friday they might confer on tho subject In view of tho knowledge and experience possessed by members of tho commission, the Minister added, he thought; it quite possible that the time allotted might suffice.
