KARORI AFFAIRS.

' 4 At the meeting of the Ifarori Borough Council held last night the following were present: The Mayor (Mr. C. Cathie), and Councillors Anderson, Ninuno, Horn, Staiiden, Hamilton, Frost, Bradnock, Hildreth, and Burn. Mr. G. G. IfoldswortU wns appointed to represent the council at the sitting of the Assessment Court in June. A letter was read from the Society of Fine Arts asking the council to contribute towards the Art Gallery. The Mayor moved that the present state ,of the' borough's exchequer would not. • allow of such contributions at present. Tho motion was carried. ' The Mayor was appointed the council's delegate at the municipal conference, to be held in July. ' A letter was read from the Gisborne Borough Council, asking the council to favour a motion that the hotel license fees be raised. As the council has no licensing fees to collect, it was decided to remain neutral in the matter. Permission was granted to the Ramblers Ladies' Hockey Club to use the council's ground to play a match, against a Palmerston team on the morning of June X
