A Coming of Age, A pleasant entertainment took piaco at tho Feilding Parish Hall on I'riduy oveniug, May 17, when Mr. and Mrs. 11. Lambert entertained friends and relations, in honour of Miss Winifred Lambert's twenty-first birthday. Tho hall was decorated with flags, ferns, and pot plants, ami (ho supper taWo with autumn leaves, cream roses, and white chrysanthemums. Tho evening was spent in dancing, games, songs, recitations, leadings, and cards, and Mr. Hebbit's String Band played selections during tho evening. Mr. rred. Piraui proposed the health of Miss Lambert, and voiced the feeling of goodwill and esteem entertained by a largo circle of friends towards her, when ho pointed out that they recognised with gratitude tiie services which biio had rendered to the church institution, _with which she was connected, and tho willing manner in which she had taken no small part in many social activities. Mr. Pirnni also referred to his old acquaintance with Mr. and Mrs. Lambert, who were respected by a large number of friends. Mr. Ismath, who is related by marriage to Miss Lambert, responded on her behalf. Miss Lambert received many souvenirs of the occasion. Mrs. Lambert received tho guests in a gown of black taffetas, and Miss Lambert was in. pale blue silk crepe trimmed with silk. Among those present wero; Mr. and Mrs. A. Crook, Mr. and Mrs. C. Aitken, Mr. and Mrs. F. Worsfold, Mr. and Mrs. J. March, Mr. and Mrs. W. Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Mills (sister of Mr. Lninbert), Mr. T. Mills, Miss Bnick, Mrs. Carter (Wellington), the Misses Guthrie, Crook, Fisher (2), Winton, Thompson, and others. "Auld Lang Syne" concluded the evening. Nadina In Real Life. j A dress worn by Miss Pearl Ladd as Nadina in "The Chocolate Soldier" was the eubjoct of a charge at Eastbourne (England) on April 10 agaiust Minnie Florence Hallett, domestic servant, who wns accused of stealing the dress. The assistant wardrobe mistress of "Tho Chocolate Soldier" Company, now at the Devonparkshiro Theatre, Eastbourne, said slio saw the accused on tho Lower Parade wearing one of tho theatre frocks. . ■ Tho Magistrate's Clerk: -It is a peculiar dress? Tho carpenter denied this, but tho Bench considered tho evidence unsatisfactory and dismissed tho case. A Tea for Miss Spong. A very delightful tea was given for Miss Hilda Spong yesterday afternoon in 'Kirkcaldio and Stains's tearooms. A corner of the largo tearoom had been partitioned off, and the tables prettily arranged with flowers. Miss Clarence, also a member of tiro "Everywomsm Company, accompanied Miss bpong. Among the guests were: Mrs., Doimo, J!re. Prouso, Mrs Christie, Miss Wallace, Mrs. Ernest Hoben, Mrs. M. Myers, Mrs. J. Miss Spong looked very charming in a gown of binds satin veiled with chiffon trimmed with embossed velvet, over which eho wore a long fur cent, with a black felt hat turned up with a large Egyptian ornament.
