Mr. Cotter had just commenced to open tho case for the defence, when the Judge told him he must not review the evidence that had been given. Mr. Cotter: But I contend, your Honour— His Honour: Mr. Cotter, I Tiavo given you my ruling, and that ruling must not be disregarded. Mr, Cotter, without making any fur* i ther comment, placed his papers on the table arid sat down, indicating that he did not intend to proceed with his openins address. His Honour: You must not say that I stopped your case, Mr. Cotter. I only called your attention to my ruling in the most courteous possible manner. Mr. Cotter did not attempt to continue his address, but called the first of hie witnesses to sivo evidence.
