LOCAL GOVERNMENT BILL.
THE FRANCHISE QUESTION. (By Tslcffraph.-Press Association.) Auckland, May U. The Local Government Bill was discussed at the Fanners' Union Conference to-day, and the following motion was carried :— "That this conference is of opinion that any change in tho franchise to local bodies is against one of the planks of the Farmers' Union platform, and that this conference strongly _ protest l ; against any tut ratepayers having a vote in county council and road board elections."
