The widow, as residuary, legatee, has now decided to devote the iucome from .£1,000,000 of her fortune to charities, half going to Now South Wales, and a quarter each to Queensland and Victoria. Trustees have been appointed to administer the gift. Charity is defined by Mrs. Hall as the relief of poverty, the advancement of the Anglican religion, the advancement of education, and the gen- ■> eral benefit of tho community.
