. —♦ WIDOW'S HANDSOME. BENEFACTION. By Teleeraph—Press Association— Copyright ' (Rec. May 23,'9.30 p.m.) Sydney, May 23. Under the vvill of the late Ml*. W. R. Halt of Mount Morgan mine fame, whose estate is valued at several millions, a.sum of ,£oo,ooo was left, to charities in New South Wales and Queensland. The widow, as residuary, legatee, has now decided to devote the iucome from .£1,000,000 of her fortune to charities, half going to Now South Wales, and a quarter each to Queensland and Victoria. Trustees have been appointed to administer the gift. Charity is defined by Mrs. Hall as the relief of poverty, the advancement of the Anglican religion, the advancement of education, and the gen- ■> eral benefit of tho community.
