A MATINEE BENEFIT. The attendance at the exhibition of British pictures continues very satisfactory. The pupils attending the Terrace and Clyde Quay 'primary schools visited the gallery in largo' numbers yesterday morning. Tho exhibition will bo again opened on Sunday afternoon,, when a collection will bo taken at the door.

Tho proprietors of tho Ade'plu Picture Theatre, Willis Street, havo generously offered to donate tho proceeds of their initial matinee performance on Saturday afternoon to -the picture purchase fund. Tickets for tho matinee may be obtained at the Art Gallery. An appeal is made to the general public to avail themselves of tin's opportunity to assist the National Gallery movement, and at tho same tiino show their appreciation of the public spirit of the management.
