Six hundred people had petitioned the Government to keep its promise, but no more had been heard of this petition. Mr Hennessey (chairman of the i'oxton Harbour Board), who accompanied the deputation, said that if its request were granted, the people of loxtou would be saved a lot of night tra\ oiling. Mr. Myers remarked that so far as promises were concerned it was difficult for him to say anything. He could only be guided by the Departmental records and files. & promised to look into tho matter raised by the deputation.
