A Golden Wedding. •Mr. and -Mrs. W. T. Robins, of Masterton, celebrated their gclden wedding on Saturday Inst, and a gathering in honour of the event was held in the Masonic Hall lost evening, when a large number of relatives awl several old friends were present. Mr. and Mrs. Robins were married at Eldad Chapel, Guernsey, Channel Islands, on May 18, IHG2, and have resided iu Masterton for 33 years. Among the presents received last evening was a handsome set of carvers from tho Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Robins is a member. The Victoria Leanue. A meeting of the council of the Victoria League was held on Tuesday e\cuing, those present being the president, Miss Coates (in the chair), Mrs. Run-vine Brown, .Mrs. Corliss, Mrs. A. A. Corrigan, -Mrs. Chatfield, Mrs. Harris, .Mrs. ,1. I'. Luke, Miss Hording, Dr. Martin, and Mr. Atkins. Among the various business matters dealt with was the appointment of an executive committee, consisting of Miss Coates, Mrs. Corliss, Mrs. Harris, .Mrs. Stott, Mrs. Chatfield (hoi!, secretary), and Mrs. J. !'. Luke (hon.' treasurer). It was decided that prizes should be offered to schools for map drawing, and prizes have been promised by Mrs: Hankinc Brown and Mr. Atkins. Mrs. Corliss, on behalf of the girls' branch it the Victoria League, is also donating one. A musical conversazoione will' be held in June, the date of which will )w decided upon later, as it is hoped that his Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington maj\ be enabled to be present, if a convenient date bo fixed upon. The council will send a donation to the funds of the junior associates in England, to mark its appreciation of the encouragement that has been bestowed upon the junior branches here by the English office. The work falling upon the shoulders of the secretary has fjeeomc very heavy, and it. was decided at the meeting that the secretary should be empowered to obtain the services of an assistant secretary.

A Presentation. Yesterday afternoon Miss Freeman, the principal of- the Free Kindergartens, and members of the Kindergarten Council, were entertained by Miss Mary Richmond nt her homo in Hobson Street. During tho afternoon a presentation was mode to Miss l'Vceman bv the president of the council, Mrs. Gill, on behalf of herself and her fcllow-membors, and much regret was expressed over the loss of Miss Freeman's valuable services.

Miss Froomnn intends spending the winter months in Nelson, with her sister, who is expected to arrive from England about the middle of next month. .- Girls' Realm Guild—"Wellington Centre." Following upon the amalgamation of the "Kin Ora" and "The Lady Plunkot" Centres of the Girls' Eealm Guild, a meetins of the new centre, to lie hereafter known as the Wellington Centre, will he held in No. 1 Committee Room of the Town Hall, on Friday, May 24, at 7.30 p.m. Anyone interested in the work of the guild will bo welcomed. Mr. and .Mrs. S. E. Wright, of Napier, are paying a brief visit to Wellington, and are staying with. Dr. and Mrs. Anderson in Shannon Street. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. A. Monckton (Otaki) are staying at the Royal Oak. Mrs. J. Martin (Martinborosigh) is visiting Wellington, ami is staying at the Cecil. Miss Kathleen Millar has returned from her visit to the south, but intends returning there early next week. Miss, Davis (Christckuroh) was a passenger by the Ulimaroa from Sydney, and is at present staying at tho Windsor. Miss Hilda Spong and Miss Clarenw, of "Everywoman," are staying at the Grand. Miss Elsie Watson has gone on a visit to Invercargill. Mrs. S. M'Laren (Masterton) is in town and is staying at the Empire. Mrs. Wood (Stoke, Nelson) is tho guest of Mrs. AY.'Kennedy. .Miss Greig, principal of the Napier Girls' High' School, is in town, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Coleridge and their family have gone to live at Bishopscourt, whore they will remain till Mrs. Spiott returns from England. Mrs. H. Crawford has gone into her house in Hobson Street.
