AREA ASKED AND OFFERED, —i ■ By Tolegraph-Press Association-Copyright. Sydney, May 22. Tho Commonwealth asked for 20,000 i acres for tho site of the Naval College at Jervis Bay. Mr. M'Gowen, tho State Premier, lias now offered 18,000 acres nnd about one-third of the area of water desired. The object of the State Government is to make itself independent of tho Federal ports by establishing a Stato port. If the Commonwealth demands had been conceded, it would have had a complete monopoly of tho waters of tho bay.
