Lord Curzon, presiding at the meeting of the Royal Geographical Society, said that regret might bo felt that Amundsen had not seen his way to take the public into his confidence. They might bo sure that Captain Scott would have welcomed him, and Amundsen would have avoided tho appearanco of attempting to forestall Scott. Nevertheless, this would not deter them from welcoming his brave and adventurous achievement.
