In the Pctohe-Karori match the plar was fast, and in the- early part of the first spell Karori lincl Petoiie very much on the defensive, but the fine defence of Isherwcod and Silbllry, at fullback, .specially the latter, saved their side time after time. The backs on both sides made the mistake of driving the. ball up and down the centre of the field instead of wiping it out to their wingforwards. The. game oiided in a win for tVlono by two goals to one. About half-way tHrongli the first spell Parranr, centre-half for Pctono. received a smaek on 'the eye from n rising ball, and had to retire. After the "bully" l'ctono again had the best of matters, and, getting into the circle, Judd passed to Beswiek to J. li'Kwan, who found the net.
In the second spell play for the first twenty minutes was very even, each side having a turn of attacking. Eventually Karori had a chance through one of Petone-'s forwards mis-hitting the hall. Cole, possession, passed to ]•'. Spiers, and the latter hit right across the field to Dyer, who scored. For some some after restarting Potono pressed, but Cooper, by a hard drive, found the line. I'rom the roll-in, Kaiwi pot the ball, and. for n time, I'etonu "Had all their work to keep them nut. When tho whistle sounded play was in midfioid. For Karori, Lower. Cole, K. Caterer (Heroawa) getting tho ball from tho "bully," passed to Kueb, who carried it into '.he circle, but his chance of scoring was spoiled by one of Pakehn's full-backs pushing him over, for which the referee should have given a penalty "bully," instead of a pan-i-ally corner. , Pakeha were soon aggressive again, and finished up by Lyons | scoring a good goal. In. Hie second spell play was even for a time, each side taking it in (urn to attack. At length Jackson sent tho ball ever to tho left-wing, and Gracio getting it, found the net.
