At the Police Court yesterday (Mr. Morgan Cnrkeek presiding) a Native wa* fined M and costs for insobriety. An.other Native was fined £2 for drunkenness and disorderly tontine!. Mr. Staveley, solicitor for the defence, commented ott the fine as being unduly heavy, bill the Bench in!minted that the intention was to take stringent sfeps to.have the nuisance abated. The Tainui-Hui Mai junior football match, played here on Saturday, resulted in a "win for the former team by 17 points to 3. Foxton forfeited to Tninui senior, being unable to raise a team.
