4 . General Baden-Powell has been received in Australia with much enthusiasm and some of his statements have been verymuch to the point, which appears to be one of his characteristics. The lecture which he (rives hero in the Town Hall "on \\'p.'lnc=dav. May 2!). is being awaited with great interest. In addition to attracting those interested-in scouting a large section of the public are expected to nllend his lecture. 'I'he box plan for the lecture will be opened on Thursday morning next at the Dresden Piano Compinv. The General will arrive in the city on Wednesday, May 29. To permit of as many of the boys as possible in the Wellington district who are Scouts being reviewed by'him, arrangements are being made to bring some 250 boys from as far as New Plymouth on the west ccast, nnil Napier on'the cast coast. An appeal is now made that householders in the city should provide hospitality for these boys. It is asked thnt those who are willing to take one or more boys into their homes for three nights, kindly at once communicate with Mr. M'l.eotl, 170 t'eutlierston. Street, or to telephone 7M. it is the desire of the General Commanding the' Defence Forces that ex-Scouts who are senior or junior cadets shall parade on the occasion of Lieutenant-General Sir R. S. S. Baden-Powell's visit in uniform with the Scouts. A muster will be held at the Drill Hall, Buckle Street at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday next tor the purpose of practising the' special movement that will be carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, May 30. ATTITUDE OF HOCKEY CLUB. (B.v Telegraah.—Pres« Association.! Dunedin, May 20. The Defence authorities have asked for the use of Poi-bury Park on .Tunc 1 in connection with General Sir Holier! Haden-I'owell's visit. A meeting of representatives of tho various hockev clubs on Saturday night decided to instruct the executive of the Utago Hockey A.-socialion mil to accede to the request, a- if would mean that, twenty-six teams would be prevcntcl from playing on that day, as well as cause injury to the. ground.
