FARMERS' FIRE INSURANCE.

THE HAWKE'S BAY ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Association was held at. Hastiugs last week, Mr. J. Beatson presiding. • The report, which was adopted, stated that no loss had been sustained duringtho past year. The expenses of management hnri l>een kept at a. low figure, the actual cost of working being 3s. lid. per JSICO of insurance, as against 3s. Cd. for the pl-evious year. In addition to a fixed deposit of .£l5O there was a sum of .£73 odd to tho credit of the current account at. the bank. The progress of tho association was clearly shown when it was noted that, although tho premium charged, since 1907 had been only 5 per cent., the association had been able, out of current revenue, to convert a debit balance of .£471 in March, 1907, into a credit of ,£236 in March, 1912. The total insurances held by the association amounted to JC99.817, divided into 356 risks; members' insurances ,£97,017. reinsurance from Wellington Mutual .£2BOO, total .£99,817, less reinsured .£15,085, net liability of members .£B-1,732. The board urged on members tho necessity cf upholding the mutual system. The retiring directorsMessrs. J. Beatson, B. Chambers, S. Chambers, E. C. Clarkson, A. Masters, T. Crosse, .1. A. Macfarlane, W. C. A. M'Kenzie, and F. E. Nelson—with the exception of Mr. Clarkson, were reelected, Mr. J. W. llnrding being elected in place of Mr. Clarkson. At a subsequent meeting of the directors, Mr. F. E. Nelson was elected chairman for the ensuing year.
