S.S. KOTUKU BREAKING UP.
A TOTAL WRECK. (By Telegraph—Prees Association.) Greymouth, May 18. The Kotuku, which wont ashore on Thursday night, when laden with coal for Timaru and Dunedin, is breaking up fast, and seas are breaking over her. The wants of the seamen and officers havo bean attended to by the Union Company. MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY. On inquiry at tho Marine Department on Saturday, it was learned that the date of tho Magisterial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the wreck of the Kotuku will bs fixed to-day. Captain Post, of the Government steamer Tutaiiekai, will act as one of the nautical assessors. The other has yet to be appointed. [The Union Company's local office received the following telegram from Greymouth early on Saturday morning:— "Heavy sea", Kotuku hopeless wreck.'T
