Tho gallery will b« opened again on Sunday afternoon, and tho general public are reminded that they can materially assist tho movement by attending in large numbers. A collection will bo taken at tho door, and half tho amount will go direct to tho fund. At a meeting of the council of tho Academy of Fine Arts last evening, it was decided to ask tho public to subscribe to tho purchase of a picturo to bo presented to the National Gallery in memory of tho late 11. S. Wardell, and it was resolved that the newly-arrived pictureby Frank Dicksee, entitled "Tho Mother," bo suggested as tho picture to bo presented. The council came to tihis decision because of tho fact that this picture is one of the most popular in tho gallery, and therefore one that tho public would probably like to see bought for tho purpose. Already tho subscriptions for this purpose amount to nearly £30, and it is expected that tho many friends of the deceased gentleman will be glad of this opportunity to pay their tributo to tho memory of one who worked so hard in tho cause of Art in this city, and particularly to bring the National Gatlory to successful fruition. Contributions for this purpose may bo sont to the secretary to the fund (Mr. J. D. Gray, 75 Grant Road), and they will bo acknowledged and devoted to the memorial picture. Mr. Wm.
