It raised its head oven at tho preliminary conference at which Dominion delegates yesterday arranged tho representative, fixtures for tho season. Sonic of the smaller unions put in a. strong plea for visits from tho more important teams, with a view to "popularising tho game and extending its influence. ment of tho League Mr. M'Grath, a Hawke's Bay delegate, stated bluntly that his province looked like becoming Uie stronghold of the League. "Good hick to it,'- said another delegate, with somewhat unconvincing " Mr." M'Grath warned the bigger unions that if they abandoned their weaker brethren, the enemy would soon be knocking at their own gates. Ho made pointed reference to tho fact that a strong effort is about to be made'to establish tu« League game in Wellington. "Quite aware of it," stated Mr., Perry, one of the Wellington representatives.
