THE CITY FIRE BRIGADE.
NEW APPOINTMENTS,
Last night the Wellington City Council adopted & committee recommendation that the vacancies existing at tho Central Fire Station should )>o filled by tho following appointments (as recommended by tho superintendent of tho Fire Brigade):— Station Officer Stewart to bo deputy-super-intendent, at a salary of .£2OO per annum : Station Officer Beynolds to bo third officer, nt £i 2s. Gd. per week; Station Officer Eobertson to-be senior station officer, at £.1 17s. per week; Senior Fireman Grint to be station officer, at £2 15s. per week; and Senior Fireman Craig to be station officer, at £2 15s. It was decided, also, that tho two vacancies caused bv the promotion of tho ecnior firemen should lie left vacant for three months,' and that at tho end of that period applications should be called from members of tho brigade; during the three months those wishing to become candidates to be given tho necessary instruction to fit them for the position. The appointment is to bo made from tho applicants for the position of electrician to the fire department,
