(From Our Spec'al Correspondent.) Palmerston, May 15. The proposal to establish trams in Palmerston is to be discussed at a meeting of ratepayers on Friday night. Mr. Black, .electrical engineer, who has prepared a. report, will bo present to help to elucidato matters.

Tho Terrace End School Committee met last evening, Mr. J. A. Nash being in the chair. The headmaster, Mr. P. T. Fairbrother, reported that the roll number was now i'A'l, with an average attendance of 370. An epidemic had affected the attendance. It was resolved to adopt the suggestion of the Jackeytown School Committee, and form a schools' association in this distirct. It was decided to arrange a concert at an earl J date in aid of tho school fumd, which now stood at .£lB 12s. The secretary was instructed to inquire from tho Education Board what requisites woro furnished to school committees.

At a meeting of the Starr-Bowkett Sor.iety last night Mrs. Grove drew the lucky marble in No. J group W3OO without interest), and Mrs. Ashley in group No. 2 (also ,£3OO without, interest).

Tre Govehnment inspector, Mrs. Dick, had inspected the home, and had found everything satisfactory. Two of the elder boys had recently been found places on farms. The matron (Miss Foley), nnd the staff were accorded hearty votes of thanks.
