PREMIER ON PROSPECTS OP DEFEAT. "I fed sure," said the Hon. .T, Colvin, Minister for Mines, yesterday, "that the country is in favour of giving the present Ministry a chance. I cannot spcile with the same certainty of the House, but I think the House will allow the Government to bring down its policy, and then I thiiik wo shall lie able to survive. He would not, however, say that the policy would not be announced before the House met. . , Interviewed at Gisbortio yesterday regarding the political situation, the lremier said: "If defeat should come, as somo have prophesied, it only means two or three upheavals, and will be the bc-gm-nin» of p Droccss that will lead to an appeal to the country, a contingency which I would approach with the iullest anticipation o£ success."
