The paper "Sporting Life" states that Arnst has intimated that unless Barry proceeds with the signing of the articles for the match for the championship of the world, and deposits a portion of the stake early next week, he will proceed to negotiate with Human, for a match at Toronto. The "British Australasian" of April 1, said:—"Tho JC7OO expenses required before Arnst, the New Zealander who holds the world's sculling championship, and Ernest Barry, can meet each other on the Thames is, in spite of the reiterated appeals of the 'Sportsman' and enthusiastic private individuals, coming in very, very slowly, less than .£l2O now being in tho hands of the authorities!_ It is understood that Barrv insists on his expenses being. at least in sight before he will begin training in earnest, and Arnst will almost certainly roquire a like guarantee,"
