(B'j Telegraph—Special Correspondent,! Palmerston North, May 13. ■Vt the Police Court to-day, before Mr. A. D. Thomson, S.M., a number of parents were'lined for not sending their children lo school regularly. George Walmo was fined 10s„ and costs, for allowing a hors? to stray ou to th? railway line at Bunnythorpe. It appears that tho hor.-e.'had wandered 011 to the line, and an approaching train had injured the animal to such an extent that it had to bo destroyed. ■ Ernest Vincent was charged .with using certain language in a public place, assaulting Gertrude Octavie Humphreys, and assaulting Frederick Groves. After hearing evidence, the charge of nsing t bad language was dismissed. For assaulting Gertrude Humpheys accused was fined XTi and costs (155.), of which JJ is to go the woman. For assaulting Gtoves accused was also lined .£5, in default 14 davs' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative. While motoring from Levin to Palmerston on .Saturday night, Mr. I>.. T. Eobni ; son, secretary of the Flaxmill Employees T'nion, met with an unfortunate accident. By some means he was thrown from the machine on to tho road, sustaining a broken log. Dr. O'Brien was communicated with, and at once proceeded to the spot in a car. and rendered metal aid, after which he conveyed Mr. Kobinson to Palmerston.
