ROSE AND CARNATION CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The committee of the Wellington Rojo and Carnation Club, in its annual vepor. states fliat Hie spring show in November last was very successful, and tli<* r;OnuK'i' of entries demonstrated the increased number of rose-growers in and about the city. There was very keen competition in most, of the classes, and the ladies' tables made a splendid display. The attendance was very large, showing that the efforts of the club to popularise the growing of flowers are liieotiiifl with success. At this show the champion rose bloom was won by Mrs. ,T. G. Wilson, the silver bowl bv Mr. 0. rrevethiek, and Messrs. Stewart Dawson's Irophv. by Mr. ,G Jefferv. The committee desires to specially' record its appreciation of (lie excellent displays nut up by Mr. G. A. Chapman and Mr. T- Waugh respectively, of the Lower Ilutt. which were much admired. It was decided, owing to flip inclement' weather, that the summer show be abandoned, but a smaller show was held in Godber's rooms on January 10, and was very successful. The spring show of the coming year will be held on November 12. The best thanks of members are due to the ladies for their work and keen interest on behalf of'the club, to those who kindly donated special prizes and trophies, and to the numerous ladies and gentlemen who volunteered their services at the show.
