MAYOR FAVOURS A CENSORSHIP. The Mayor (Mr. D. M'l.aren) intends to bring before the committee of the Wellington City Council the question of forwarding a remit to tho Municipal Conference on the subject of censorship of picture shows. Mr. M'Lean expressed the opinion yesterday that some pictures displayed nad a degrading tendency. At tho same time lie made. it clear that, in his opinion, these objectionable jiictnres were few in number, and that Ins strictures did not apply in a general sense or to picture shows as a whole. The matter did not apply to 'Wellington alone, the Mayor remarked, but to New Zealand as a whole.
