MR. MILLAR'S PROPHECY.
AUCKLAND COMMENT. (By Telegraph.—Su'ccial Correspondent.! Auckland, May 12. Commenting on tho new Ministry and Mr. Millar's prediction regarding its fate, the "Herald" says: "Mr. Lauronson has just delivered himself of a vigorous defence of the Ministry, but his remarks as to its legislative programme 'invo only served to increase the public bewilderment. Like his chief, he talks vaguely about caution and moderation, but in view of the elasticity of these lorms, it is surely desirable that generalities should bo discarded and a clear statement made to tlio people of the country. Tlw new Ministry is preaching the doctrines of the Reform party, but flirting with tho Judical s as well. Unfortunately one of the charmers will have to be discarded scon, an I Ministers will then have to mak-J up tnoir minds and take the country inlb their confidence by making a plain and unihetorical statement. Mr. Millar believes that when this time comes with the reassembling of Parliament 'he Mafl.inzie Government will bo defe'ifo-1. 31 r. Millar may fairly lie assumed to h.;ve some knowledge of tho situation, and to be- entitled to considerable credit as a political prophet."
