1 OLD NEWSVBNDOB AND'YOUTH. (By TelarriDli-Preu AsteeUtlai.S Auckland, May 10. A labourer named Frank Taylor was charged with- having assaulted and robbed an old man nemod Edirard Olson, a newspaper vendor and ovor 78 years of age. Tho case for th© prosecution was that accused was in tho habit of visiting acquaintances rosidiag in the same tenement os Olsen, but, on this occasion, found hia way into tho room occupied by Olsen and tire other old men. Ho then suggested that Olsen elieuld como and drink with him, and, upon Olsen refusing, accused caught hold of him by tho throat and abstracted 25-9. from his pocket. Accused then took his watch and chain, and left the house. After hearing the evidence of complainant and two constables, accused entered a plea of guilt)-, and was committed to the Supremo Court for eenteu.ee.
