THE TITANIC WRECK.
COUNSEL FOR STEERAGE PASSENGERS. By Teleswph-Press Association-Copyright. London, May 8. At tho Titanic Court, of Inquiry permission was asked to have tho steerage passengers represented at the inquiry by counsel. It was stated that two third-class passengers had alleged that while they were swimming some of the crew struck their heads and hands and prevented them from climbing into a boat.
EVIDENCE OF SEAMEN.
London, May 8.
A seaman named Lee, who was with Fleet, another seaman, in the crow's nest at the time of the disaster, testified that there was a thick haze ahead, which thickened, but that, tho speed waa uot slackened after Fleet's warning that there was an iceberg light ahead. Ho acknowledged thnt from the bridge the iceberg appeared as a dark mass with only a white spot of fringe along the top. The first berg was seen when it was half a mile or less distant.
