TITANIC RELIEF FUND.
PRACTICAL SYMPATHY. Practical sympathy with the victims of the Titanic was shown at a meeting of the ship's cooks, bakers, butchers, and stewards, held on. board tho K.M.S, liualiiue on the evening of liny 1, when Iho following resolution, propowd by Mr. G. E. Johnson, chief coot;, and seconded by Mr. Hiiyes, mcoiul steward, wns carried liiiiiniinoiisly:—"That this meeting of cooks, bakers, and Uowimls of the H.M.ij. Uuahii'.o express its heartfelt sympathy and condolence with tho bereaved and sufferers in the appalling disaster which bei'ol the Titanic, and we further ! wish to place on record our admiration, of (lie officers and crew, who so nobly sacrificed their lives for the women nail children, and as nonio small mark of our appreciation of their heroic action, we wish to give one day's pay each towards a fund iu relief of the widows and orphans of the crew." We also wish tho chief steward to hand same to tho Major of Southampton, for him to use for tho benefit of the said widows and orphans. The money will lie cabled home at once. It is hoped by tho movers that other ships will follow with similar actions.
