DEPUTATIONS IN TOE. SOUTH. (By Tclczraph-Press Association.) Dunedin, May 5, The Prime Minister left for Balclntlui on Saturday morning. At Milton a deputation from the Technical CUwses -\sedation asked for financial assistance for the work of the school. In reply. Mr. Mackenzie said it was impossible {o carry on two sets of technical instruction with tho money at the Government's dicposnl. Instruction work in connection with tlio Department of Agriculture had been starved in recent years, It was neccssiry to inquire into tho whole system with a new to co-ordinating the various parts. Iho Government proposed to irake ll'at inquiry. It seemed to him that curtailment in some direction was inevitable, At Bnlclullia a deputation urged iho acquisition of the Otuiiomouo Estate (5109 acres) and tho Clifton Estate (15,(166 acres) for closer settlement, Tlio Prime Minister promised to communicate with the owners (Messrs. Telford Bros.) immediately. In the afternoon the Prime Minister pponed the Coronation Park and the new post office.
