"B.P.'S" VISIT.
WELLINGTON SCOUTS' PROGRAMME. Arrangements in connection with tho visit to Wellington (on May 29 and JO) oi Lieutenaut-Geueral K. S. Baden-Powell, Chief of tho Hoy Scout movement, are now well forward, and the local executive of tho Dominion Boy Scout organisation hopes to mark the occasion by a successful and memorable turn-out. 'j he General will arrive from Auckland by tne Mam Trunk express on the afternoon of May 29, and will be met on his arrival by scouts and scout officers. These will be assembled in circular formation, with tho Chief Scout and party in tho centre. Certain scout evolutions will then bo performed and the New Zealand Hallj will probably be arranged between the General and the scoutmasters and ex-scoutmastcrs. Tho lecture- to bo delivered by General Baden-Powell will ba given that evening. ... On tho following day the General will probably bo tho guest of the New Zealand Club at luncheon at tho 1..U.U.A., and in the afternoon there- is to be a j great scout rally, the parado ground for which has not yet been decided upon. Displays and exhibitions of scout wo.k. will be given, and in the evening the General will be given a send-off at the wharf on his departure for Lyttelton. A very Inrge muster of scoots is looked for, and districts as distant as w ,. pl 3[mouth, Napier, and Nelson and Alarj. hprough are expected to be represented. Negotiations are now proceeding with the Railway Department with regard to the transport of Boy Scouts from the country centres, and suitable arrangements will bo made for billeting them in tho city. Circulars are being issued to exscouts inviting their presence on the occasion. Tn the meantime general parades of scout troops have been arranged for Saturday afternoons at 2 o'clock, for rehearsals, and classes will be held during week nights in tho club rooms in Featherston Street for instruction in badge subjects. Examinations will also bo held at tho same time. Commencing on Monday nt 8 p.m. scoutmasters will also hold meetings to talk over matters. In connection with the occasion, it is interesting to note that the Wellington troop of Bov Scouts in the Old Country (tho 00th'London) has presented a green silk banner to tho Wellington troop here. Before being dispatched, tho. banner .was duly consecrated and saluted, and thereafter was forwarded (o his Excellency tho Governor. It is now in Auckland, and will be formally presented at tho rally on May 30. The banner bears the inscription, in Latin and English: "Qui vincit so vincit." "He conquers who conquers himself." Tho Kclburno troop is publishing ; a special commemoration number of its paper in honour of the occasion. Tho same troop will furnish the guard which is to receive tho Dominion Chief Scout (Lieut.'Colonel D. Cosgrove, V.D.) on his arrival in Wellington on Mav 19, en routo to Auckland to-meet the General. While in Wellington Colonel Cosgrove will havo an interview with tho General Officer Commanding tho N.Z. Forces (Major-General A. J. Godley, C.8.), with regard to certain questions affecting tho Boy Scout organisation. His Excellency the Governor is expected to bo present at tho Wellington "rally."
