Senator Smith, chairman of the Senate's Committee of Inquiry, has apologised to Mr. Lowe, fifth, officer of the Titanic, for his reference to Mr. Lowe's sobriety. Ho says he did not intend to east any reflection on Mr. Lowe, tlio word "intemperate" having been interpreted as relating to Mr. Lowe's liabits instead of his temper. TOWN ISM.AY TO BE RENAMED. The residents of a town named Ismav aro taking step's to alter its name in consequence of the criticisms addressed to Mr. Brace Jsmay, head of the White Star Company, in connection with the Titanic inquiry. The inhabitants aro contemplating renaming the town Butt, Astor, or Strauss. THE TITANIC'S ENGINEERS. London, May 1. The London "Chroniclo" is organising a special fund for a /nc-moriul to the 'l'itanic's engineers, and also for the benefit' of the orphans. MONEY FOUND ON BODIES. Halifax, May 1.
