A PRESENTATION. The Hon. J. A. Millar, ex-Minister fo* Labour ( was the recipient yesterday of a framed illuminated address from the staff of ths Labour Department, he presentation was made by Jla , . J. Lonias, Secretary for Labour, ata a gathering iu the head office, To Aro, among thoeo present being the new Minister for Labour (Hon. G. Laurenson). Mr. Lomas expressed the regret with which the officers parted from Mr. Millar, whom they regarded as a strong and capable administrator. The staff from end to end of New Zealand esteemed him very highly. H ehad always stood'by them and given consideration to every reasonable request, and he had tried to hold the balance evenly between employers and employed. Mr. Laurenson fnid that Mr. Millar na<t always been his friend, and ho regarded him as a. verv able Minister. The Department of labour was an exceedingly difficult one to administer. Mr. Millar expressed his thanks for the presentation, and aelcnowtedjred gratefully tho loyal service he had received from the officers of the Department.
