CIVIC ELECTION.

THE SUPPLEMENTARY ROLL. Mr. R. Murdoch has decided not to stand for tho seat vacant on tho City Council, and thn only candidates definitely announced nro Messrs. E. lrcgear (Labour) and W. J. Thompson. Applications for enrolment on tho supplementarv roll, now being compiled, may be handed in until to-iuorroir. So far about 250 claims for enrolment havo been received, but it is anticipated that this number will bo largely increased, as some 1500 enrolment forms have been issued from the council offices. About 1000 were obtained by officials and vorfcers of the Labour party. Some citizens entitled to enrol seem not vet to have grasped the fact that ii they 'want to exercise a vote they must sco personally that their names are enteral on tho roll. Only ratepayer* are enrolled without application. Others qualified as electors must fill in a claim for enrolment, which can. bo obtained at the council offices. Eron mtouayers would bo wiso to inspect tho roll in case their names have beeu inodvoi bontly omitted. MAYORAL INSTALLATION. Mayornl installatiou ceremonies will take piace to-day in tho city and in all the surrounding boroughs. In the city Mr I). M'lareu will be installed as Mayor nt 7.30 p.m. At Pctouo and at lawct llutt, whero Messrs. J. \V. M'Ewan nud E. V. Bunny respectively have been vcelected, the same hour has boon selected for tho ceremony. At Karori, Jir. C. Cathie will bo installed at 8 p.m. Mr. U. M'Ltod will bo installed as Mayor ot Miranmr at noon. The somo hour has bwju selected in the case of Onslov Borough, where Mr. F. JloldswofXh lias been re-elected, and of Eastbourne, whero Mr. 11. W. Shortt has liccn re-elected. 'Die Eastbourne ceremony will be helil nt Mr. J. D. Avery's offices, in t'ealherstoii Street.
