SENTENCED FOB BIGAMY. Bj Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. April 28, 5.5 p.m.) London, April 27. Hugo Laurence Ames, the well-known author, and Flora Ames, who were arrested on a charge of bigamy early last month, were both sentenced, to six months' imprisonment in-the second division. Mr. Ames is 56 years of age, and was married to the second Mrs. Ames mlli.ti, at Kensington, after an Idaho (b.S.A.. divorce, of which it is alleged that Amc.-.s previous wife knew nothing, I his lady is the eldest daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Hayter, C.8., and is known as an authoress, lecturer, and playwright. Mr. Ames is provincial secretary to the Grand Council of the Primrose League, one of the principal Conservative organisations in the-United Kingdom. He was in 1890 private secretary to Sir Julian Pauncefote, then Ambassador to the United States. Mr. Ames has published several Hooks, including one on "The Position of Woman and the Problem of Sex.
