Linton Wedding. On 'Wednesday last (writes our Palmerston correspondent) a pretty wedding took place- at St. Columns Church, Linton, when Hiss Henrietta Terry, third daughter of Mr. B. W. Terry, farmer, of Liuton, was married to Jlr. Richmond P. C. Hunter, youngest son of Mrs. Hunter, Tauhcri, the church being prettily decorated for the occasion by the bride's girl friends. Miss Terry, who was given away by her father, wore n gown of duchesse satin, , the bodice being of rich all-over lace and silver trimming, and plain skirt with square train niched with satin ribbon. She wore the usual veil .mil orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet, the gift of Mrs. M. Moody, also wearing an amethyst pendant and chain, the gift of the bridegroom. She was attended by Miss Ellen Terry ■ (sister of the bride) *and Miss Juanita Craw, niece of the bridegroom. The latter wore a pretty grey empire silk frock, trimmed with cream net insertion, and silk fringe, finished at the waist with silver girdles. Pretty black velvet hats, with drawn pale pink "silk under the brim, -completed their toilettes, and they carried bouquet?, the gifts cf Mrs. Moodi'. There were nlto two small maids, the .Mis.-cs Adele Craw and Doris Peterken, both wearing pale blue empire silk frocks, trimmed with cream lace and wreaths of cream daisies and blue ribbon. All the bridesmaids wore amethyst ear-rings, the bridegroom's gift. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Hector Craw (nephew of the bridegroom) and Mr. Arthur Terry (brother of the bride). After the ceremoiiy a large reception was held in the Linton Hall, and later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Hunter left by motor for Auckland, their future home, the bride wearing a dark tw«ed costume and black velvet hat, -with cream ui der the brim and cream and blue tips.
Ucdies' Hockey Club Social. A large gathering was held at (he Tiffin Rooms. Manners Street, on Friday evening;, under the auspices of tho Ramblers Ladies' Hockey Club, to welcome all new and old member?, also to make a presontat'cn to Mrs. Scott (nee Miss M. Reid). Mr. V. T. Jl'Lean acted as chairman. Mr. Hunter, the club's coach, made tho presentation on behalf of the club, and complimentary remarks on tlis progress of the club were made by the chairman. Games and competitions took place, Miss E. Lenihnn winning the prize. Dancing till a late hour brought a very enjoyable evening to .a close.
Those who contributed to the prograimne, which had been arranged lor the entertainment of tho earlier part of the evening, were Mr. Knox, with an overture; Jliss Frith, Mi.'.s Blick. Miss Melville, Miss H. Bennett, find Messrs. Sweeney, 13en<re, and Tinney, all contributed songs; pianoforte- solos, Mr. Cubitf, and Aliss Carroll; recitations, Mr. I!. Jl'Loan and Mr. S. M'Lean; extra items, Mr. Coldicntt.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Nelson (Alfrodton) nre visiting Wellington, nnd are the guests of Mrs. H. Gore. Mr. and Mrs. Tringliain, Pigeon Bush, have beeu spending some days in Xapier. On Saturday afternoon Colonel Robin, C.M.G. (who is leaving for England on Friday next, via America), with the assistance of Miss Kobin, entertained a number of his children friends. An hour at the pictures and afternoon tea in town provided a. wealth of joy for the little ones, with whom Colonel Robin is most popular. Mr. and Mrs. Waller Clifford and the Misses Clifford are leaving at the end of the week for England. The engagement is announced of Mifs Irene Jameson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Jameson, of Kelburne, to Mr, John C. Burns, of Auckland, son of Mr. John Burns.
