HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.

Yesterday afternoon Mr. A. Simmonds, 'bus proprietor, of Lower Hutt, while driving along Knight's Road with his three children in a gig, mot with an accident, The horse- took fright, bolted towards tho township, and ran into tho kerbing. Th© vehicle was overturned, and tho occupants thrown to the ground. Mr. Simmonds was badly cut about the head, and his little boy also received cuts on tho face. The other children were unhurt.
It is understood that Mr. P. .T. Pinny, previously a member of the Hutt River Board, will be a candidate for tho vacancy on the board, caused by tho resignation of Mr. H. Sladden.
