Mr. W. H. Wiokham, the British Trad« Commissioner, met some promjnent business men hero to-day, and discussed trade matters, with a view to obtaining information as to the source of tho importation of motor-cars, agricultural maohinery, timber, and ironmongery. Alloe Norton, a singlo woman, aged twenty years, committed 6uicido at her mother's residence yesterday, by hanging. Deceased left a note stating that sho would be found in the grapcfiouse, where her body wbb discovered in tho evening, suspended from a beam. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. Norton, Assistant-Inspec-tor of Post Offices.,- ..... . .... A SAD EVENT. Wanganul, April 19. A man named R. H. CHARGE AGAINST RAILWAY EMPLOYEES. Duncdln, April 19. At Blacks to-day Stanley Charlet Hilgendorf was charged with stealing J!4fl, and Michael Begley with receiving £W, tho property of tho Postal Department. Both accused were employed on the railway at Oamakau. Hilgendorf pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence, but Begley pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Both were admitted to' bail in their own' recognisances of JC7S eaoh, and two sureties of a similar amount.
