STABBING AFFAIR.

IN CUBA STREET, THE OUTCOME OF A QUARREL. Rather a sensation was caused in Cuba Street at about C o'clock last evening by a quarrel which resulted in a man known as Hurry Sandow being stabbed. Rumours as to what led to the affair, and iiow it. happened, were freely circulated, but authentic particulars were not so numerous. The occurrence took placo in Cuba Street, close to the Manners Street junction. It is stated that Sandow and another man had soino difference in an hotel, and that they went out on to tho street, where tho quarrel assumed a graver aspect. The alleged outcome was that tho other man drew a pocket knife and thrico stabbed Sandow—in tho neck, near the car, and on tho nose. I'ho quarrel ended abruptly, and Bandow's plight was eoon noticed by some men, who took him to Messrs. :F. and G Castlo's pharmacy, near by, whore first aid was given. Iho police were 6ont for, and Dr. Henry was summoned. An hour later Sandow was transferred to tho hospital. ; Up till a lato hoiir last night there was considerable uncertainty as to who inflicted tho wound. The man seems to liavo disappeared very shortly after the occurrence, and no one, so far as was known, had been arrested or charged with tho deed. Tho nolico had nothing definite to go upon, but were hopeful of securing the man wanted without much delay.. Sandow i> known in local wrestling and boxing circles, and also in a good many agricultural centres as a showman. He followed the occupation.of teaching physical culture, and during tho agricultural show season ho went tho round of tho gatherings, where his tent was always pitched.among the other side shows. Late last ovening tho hospital reported that Sandow's injuries were not considered yery serious.
