MORE MEN SURVIVORS. TOTAL BROUGHT UP TO ELEVEN. London, April 18. Tho following are among the lntly passengers saved:— Mesdames G. Stone and F. J. Swift, society ladies. Miss Margaret Graliam, a actress. Mrs. Jonathan Lo Moyne Snyder, of Michigan. Master Harry Witlener, a son of Mr. r. A. B. Widener, the Philadelphia millionaire, was also saved. Additional names among the men who survived are:— Mr. C. E. Stengel, racehorse owner. Mr. Thomas C'ardeza, of Rio de Janiero and New York. Mr. P. Marcchal, Washington. Colonel Archibald Gracie. Mr. W. T. Sloper, Seattle. Mr. J. B. Thayer, vice-president of the Northern Central Railway and Baltimore and Potomac Railroad. Mr. Jonathan Lo Moyne Snyder, president of tho Michigan State Agricultural College. THE LIFE BOATS. STATEMENT IN PARLIAMENT. BOARD OP TRADE POLICY." London, April 18. Mr. Sydney Buxton, President of tho Board of Trade, speaking in tho House of Commons, said tho rules regarding lifesaving appliances on board British ships had not been revised since 1894. The Board of Trade in 1911 had asked for an advisory committee representing tho merchant shipping to report on the matter. It had never been the Board of Trado's policy that vessels with well-equipped watertight compartments should necessarily carry lifeboats to accommodate all passengers. Tho Titanic, said Mr. Buxton, carried boats for 1178 people. There were 48 lifeboats and 35G0 lifebelts. She was certified to carry 3500 passengers and crew, and actually carried 2208. He suggested that an inquiry should be held as to whether vessels could bo forbidden talcing the Northern Atlantic route in the spring, and if there was no power to stop ocean racing. SUFFICIENT FOR ALL. ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE COMPANY. London, April 18. The White Stat Company officially 6tates that the Titanic had life-saving appliances for all tho passengers, and tho boatago accommodation was in excess of tho Board of Trade requirements. Mr. Carlisle, designer of tho Titanic, states that when making the design for the Olympic and Titanic ,ho suggested special davits providing for forty boats. Those davits wefo fitted. Tho Board of Trade required sixteen, but twenty were supplied.
