A Petone Wedding, At St. David's Church, on Wednesday ntterncon, the marriage took place of Miss Alice Allender, youngest daughter ot the into Mr. John Ailender, of Petone, nf 1, Jb ' tViverhill, second son of mi avor biH, Hiitt Road, Petone. Iho Kev. A. Thompson officiated, f iho church was beautifullv decorated by girl lricnds of the bride, and the service was choral, .Mr. \V. H. lionnio playing the organ. The ljr>!e, wlio was given away by her brother, .Mr. AV. AW Allender, of Christchurch, wore <x gown of ivory satin charmcuse, trimmed with handsome point lace, .with the usual veil and orange blossoms. Sh© carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses and maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Alice Troup, who wore a frock of pale blue charmeuse, black picture hat, trimmed with black fox fur, and pale salmon pink lillics, and carried a sheaf of delicately-shaded roses. Mr.> Harold Parkinson was the best man. Mrs. 1). Allender, the mother of the bride, held a reception after the ceremony. She wore a tailor-made gown and a black bonnet to match. Her bouquet was of shaded pink dahlias. Mrs. T. W. Caverhill, mother of the bridegroom, was in a black silk gown, and carried a beautiful bouquet. Numerous friends and relatives of both families were assembled to do' honour to the bride and bridegroom. The brido travelled in a navv blue tailor-made costume with saxe blue facings and saxe blue Tagcl straw hat, trimmed with ostrich plumes. | A Hutt' Wedding.
A very pretty wedding took place in St. James's Church, Lower Hutt, yesterday afternoon when .Miss Winifmf Elliott, third daughter of .Mr. anil .Mrs. H. J. Tl. Llhott, of the Hutt, was married to Mr. Guy (..roves, third son of the late Mr. John c.rove?, of "Bushgrove," Teutii. The Ko\. Joshua Jones was tho ofiiciatinir clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful trained gown oi soft ivory satin, trimmed with lace, and a veil and wreath of ,Mango blossoms. She carried a beautiful bouquet of whito roses, stophanoriand maidenhair fern fastened with lon"'' white satin streamers. Miss Violet Groves, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss hsme ulliott, cousin of tho bride, were her bridesmaids, and they woro vorv I Pretty, frocks of wliito muslin, trimmeil | with laco and quaintly becoming mob caps of black satin, with effective touches of old gold in them, harmonising with tho , autumn tints of tho foliage in their bou--5 rniets of roses, gloxinias, and leaves. .Mr. J Norman Groves, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man, and Mr. Belliss, 1 of Teiini, the groomsman. .Mrs. Elliott, the bride's mother, wore a gown of black silk, with a white lace scarf, and a violet 1 toque. Her bouquet was composed of violets. Jlrs. John Groves, the bridegroom's stepmother, was. in a violet cosdime and hat, and carried a bouquet of violets. After the wedding service was concluded, a reception was held at the lionie of Mr. and Jlrs. Elliott, many relatives of both sides of the families being present. Autumn foliage and red and white flowers decorated the hall, and in the diningroom were quantities of white flowers, tho table being arranged with white cosmeas and Michaelmas daisies. Mr. Mowbray proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and Mr. Groves responded. Among tho guests were: Jlrs. Jlurisou (sister of the bride), wearing a brown frock trimmed with gold tissue and a violet toque with plumes; Jlrs. Bucholtz was in a black frock, trimmed with cream lace, and a large red velvet hat; Mrs. S. •Wheeler, soft grey frock, with silver trimming, and a large velvet hat with shaded flowers; Jliss Daisy Groves, sister of the bridegroom, a dark costume, and black ami white hat; Lady OsborneGibbes, oyster-grey coat ami skirt and floral toque. Her bouquet was of violet-;; Mrs. King dark coat and skirt, and hat en suite; Mrs. liarclav, gown of blue and black silk foulard, and blue and black Napoleon hat, and she carried a violet bouquet; Jlrs. Thompson was in a frock of grey silk crystalline, and violet hat with plumes. Also present were: ■Mrs. Bridge. Jlr. and Jlrs. Hubert Keeling, Jlrs. JYhite-Scott (I'ahiatua), Jliss Sutton, Jlr. Charles Hickson, Jliss Lukin, Jliss Foster, Jlr. Harry Groves, and others. The bride's going-away costume was a mole-coloured coat and" skirt, with blue facings, and a black velvet hat with touches of blue. Jliss Murray, florist, Willis Street, made tho bridal bouquets. Hutt Golf Club. The ladies of the Hutt Golf Club held the first of this season's competitions for the Eiddiford and L.G.U. medals yesterday.
