MOTOR REGULATION.

NEW BY-LAW CONFIRMED,

The now motor by-law was brought before the City Council last evening for continuation

Councilbr J. Trevor (chairman of (lie By-Laws Committee) moved that tho bylaw should be confirmed, and should comc into force on May 1, 1912. Councillor M'Laren hoped that the council, although it passed the by-law, would not neglect the regulation ol' speed, lie had lately seen cars driven through Willis -Street at a speed that, was simply outrageous. Councillor Fletcher agreed that some regulation of specl was called for, and suggested that the council should seek the co-operation of the police. Councillor Trevor raid that when (lie by-law was passed it shfculd be possible to take effective action against "racing." Councillor Fitzgerald contended that the motor-car drivers and (axi-cab drivers of Wellington should not be denounced. 11' there had been reckles sdriving it was tlio fault of the council for neglecting to frame ;i by-law. The motion to confir mtho by-law was agreed to on the voices.
