THE LATE FIREMAN M'LEAN.
CITY COUNCIL'S TRIBUTE. ' Reference was made to the fatality at tlio firo in Manners Street last Sunday morning at the opening of tlio City Council meeting Inst night, Tlio Acting-Mayor (Mr. .T. Smith) moved that the council express its condolence with the widow of the late Fireman. M'Lean. He liail been a good servant of the council, and lio hud met his death suddenly under the saddest, cireuiiistisneos. Possibly in time it might be that difficulties leading to fatal accidents might.|w overcome, and the rcceiit accident "Mis 'to> bo deplored, lie thought that a motion of condolence and sympathy with the widow wits only a proper acknowledgment of the faithful service of Mr. M'Lean. Councillor Fletcher seconded the motion! saying that Mr. M'Lean was a fine stamp of man, just sort for tho kind of work he was required to do. Tlio motion was supported by Councillors Trevor, M'Lareu, and Cohen, and affirmed in silence.
