ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
WHARF LABOURERS INJURED,
An extraordinary accident occurred at tho Railway Wharf about a quarter to 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, resulting in serious injury to two wharf labourers, who were employed in- unloading coal from the steamer Pohenia. Tho duties of tho men consisted in running trolleys along ithe overhead railway from the steamer to the railway trucks. While thoy wero thus engaged another lot of trucks were shunted in, and some gear in the trucks crashed into the overhead railway and smashed it, with tho result that tho two men— named Docherty and Walker—were thrown on to the wharf. Docherty fell on his head and sustained a eevoro scalp wound and concussion of tho brain. After ljeing attended to by Dr. Tolhurst, ho was removed to tho hospital by Constable Kelly. Walker, who sustained injuries to his back and head, was removed to his home. Ho is a married man and resides at 82a Kent Terrace. Docherty is a single man, 49 years of age, residing at 5a Binhaiu Street.
