SHABBY TREATMENT. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Christchurch, April IC. Mr. Charles Bokon, a skilled photographer in Chrislchurch, writes to tho "Press" as follows, regarding the treatment which ho has received from ■ tho Tourist Department:—"l would like to (isk your advice on tho following matter. Last October [ did a lot of photographic work for tho Government Tourist Department, for their exhibit in tho industrial exhibition hold hero last November, and, up to date, have not been ablo to get payment for it. My account was rendered lo tho Tourist Department here, and tho officer in charge informed me that ho "passed" it and forwarded it to tho head office. Ho informs me ho has written about it and other accounts for work done for the samo exhibition, and that none have been paid yet (although it is now six months ago). I havo also written myself about it, and was informed that my account had boon passed, and that a chequo would reach me nt an early date, but the 'early dale' does not come. When next I inquired I was told (lint all accounts would bo squared up before Mr. Mawe-y took charge of affairs, but, as Mr. Massey did not take charge of affairs, my account has not been paid. "Tho next timo I inquired it was: 'All accounts would be paid by the end of March—the end of the Government financial year. I would be glad if you could inform mo what is (he best thing lo do iu tho matter. Can 1 place it in tho hands of a solicitor to take proceedings, as the Department evidently does not intend to pav it unless something is done? I would like to stalo that tho prices charged for work done by me were the prices fixed by the Tourist Department, viz.—for lantern slides, Is. each, and for Klin, x l"in. enlargements (is. each.
